78,000 KW Street Maps to be delivered to mailboxes this week in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week
For Immediate Release:
Kitchener, ON Oct 6, 2003 ---78,000 residents in KW will receive something special in their mailboxes this week, which is International Fire Prevention Week. For the 4th time in 10 years Coldwell Banker Peter Benninger Realty is proud to release their KW Street Map and Services Guide.
This highly sought after street map, which raises funds for our local Fire Safety Program, is possible because of the generous support of the 65 businesses who have advertised in it, and co-sponsors The Economical Insurance Group and Zehrs Markets.
"The first map we did was released in 1993 and raised enough money to get the Fire Safety Program off the ground; and 10 years later, it is key in maintaining all the tools in the Fire Safety Program," said Peter Benninger, president and Broker of Coldwell Banker Peter Benninger Realty. "The program relies primarily on the mobile Fire Safety House, a school on wheels that teaches a child what no book, movie or lecture can. In combination with the instruction of the fire prevention officers who travel to the schools, the Fire Safety House uses theatrical smoke, heated door handles, flashing lights and the sensations that these things create to teach children what to do in a fire, how to do it and to do it calmly. By grade three every student in Kitchener and Waterloo will have been through the pogrom at least once!"
Previous editions of the map have helped finance the Fire Safety Training Van, an education vehicle that works with the Fire Safety House as well as Mike on a Bike an extremely popular motorized puppet and teaching tool used by the fire fighters with young children.
This 4th edition map features important information inside about Direct Detect, a life saving alarm system available to residents of Kitchener, Waterloo and the Townships of Wilmot, Wellesley & Woolwich. Proceeds from this years map helped purchase the two Mazda Tributes we will be presenting to the Kitchener and Waterloo Fire Departments on October 9th. These utility vehicles will not only provide valuable promotional exposure for Direct Detect, but will also carry the fire safety officers to their many training and public education and awareness events.
