(Kitchener, Ontario) Habitat for Humanity and Coldwell Banker Celebrate
National Volunteer Week by Launching New Project
Kitchener, Ontario. Members of the media are invited on Friday, April 27,
2001 at 10:00 a.m. to celebrate National Volunteer Week (April 22-28).
Volunteers from Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region and Coldwell Banker
will officially break the ground on Habitat's next building project in
Kitchener. The event will take place on at 487 Bankside Drive (near the
intersection of Bankside Drive and Westforest Trail). Photo and interview
opportunities will be available at this time.
"Habitat for Humanity and Coldwell Banker have a long association on the
international front. We are very proud to be joining with Habitat for
Humanity Waterloo Region on this our first national build project here in
Canada. Habitat is a wonderful charitable match for Coldwell Banker. We are
both in the business of providing homes for Canadians, and Coldwell Banker
has a long history of putting something back into the communities where we
do business." said Peter Robinson, President & CEO of Coldwell Banker
Canada.
Each Habitat house is the end product of over 10,000 volunteer hours by
hundreds of different volunteers. Skilled and unskilled volunteers are
involved in every aspect of the building of the house, from drawing up the
blueprints to landscaping the new home. The family who will purchase the
house also donates at least 500 hours of volunteer work to the organization,
including many hours building their new home. Coldwell Banker employees
from across Canada, lead by local volunteers from Coldwell Banker Peter
Benninger Realty, will be volunteering on this project. Additional local
skilled and unskilled volunteers are also needed for the Pre-build from
June 4 - 22 and the Blitz Build from July 16 -21. For more information call
Habitat at 747-0664.
