COLDWELL BANKER
Coldwell Banker Peter Benninger Realty will launch a new division when its Real Estate Consumer Centre opens this fall at 508 Riverbend Dr. in Kitchener's Lancaster Business Park.
The Retirement Lifestyles Division (www.coldwellbankerpbr.com/retirement/) will be headed by Rosemary Wehrle, an educator for 33 years and now a retirement lifestyles consultant who will assist clients with housing and living needs in the "retirement stage'' of their lives.
Wehrle is working out of the Coldwell office at 1770 King St. E., Kitchener until the new centre opens.
"I've kind of worked with the other end (of the population) all my life -- children and adolescents," Wehrle said. "Because I like to work with people, I wanted to continue that . . . with a different sector of the population."
The centre will offer traditional real estate services plus information about rentals, new homes, mortgage financing, etc. Coldwell Banker will occupy half the space in the new building. Other tenants, including a national name, will be announced in the coming months.
Audio firm set to open retail store
Scarlet Audio Inc., a local company that designs and manufactures high-end audio equipment and components, is getting set to open a retail store called The Audiophile Boutique (577-6868) on Aug. 6 at 707 Frederick St. in Kitchener.
But you'll need an appointment to get in, at least initially.
"The biggest reason, I think, is because we're involved also in manufacturing our own products,'' says Tamas Fejerpataky, president and chief designer.
"That takes a lot of time from us, so right now we don't have a sales staff in place at the store. Basically we're relying on advertisements and then people calling us to set up appointments, serious appointments, for listening . . .
"The clients would typically be very affluent people with a lot of money to spend on this kind of thing."
Scarlet Audio (www3.sympatico.ca /scarletaudio) is located at 286 Highbrook Cr. in Kitchener. The six-year-old business is owned by Frank Fejerpataky and his son, Tamas.
NORTHERN THAI
Northern Thai is the new name of the former Barrels restaurant located at 95 Queen St. S. (at Charles Street) in downtown Kitchener.
For the past five years, Sané and Dora Rattanasithy have been the lessees of Barrels Restaurant. But having recently purchased the building, they have decided to make the change from Portuguese cuisine to Thai, Sané said. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday.
